I got my Marco Polo hat on

June 02, 2009 00:32
The date is fast approaching and the itinerary is set. Later this month Emi, Chiara, and I will hit the roads of Italy to visit our suppliers and uncover new artisans and their creations.

The idea of this trip is fascinating and very much in line with the inspiration that started Marcopoloni to begin with: to bring the artisans of truly handmade, quality products closer to those people who appreciate those products. It feels that there is little else that could be more important for us to do in our question to fulfill our mission.

Our trip will start from Sicily, where we will visit Gianni on the hills above Messina. Then it will take us to Amalfi where we will visit Vincenzo. Next we will go to the Le Marche region and check out a number of new (to us) and promising artisans. Next stop is near Cesena, followed by Florence and the Chianti region. Finally, we'll go see Modesto near Pisa and make our way back to Milan. We plan on posting update on the Marcopoloni Facebook page.

My snaplink Italian leather keychain

April 15, 2009 18:00
I have been using my snaplink since 2005 and I doubt that another key chain will come along that will make me want to replace it. After four years of use the leather has become a bit smoother and softer, but the black color is still uniform and the metal hardware is still shiny and, more importantly, the spring in the snaplink is still solid so the keychain works like new.
My appreciation for this cool key chain has grown because, over the years, I've learned to quickly clip the snaplink on my belt loop even when a thicker belt makes that a challenge.
